Effectively Using PDF as Source

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

What do you do when you receive only a PDF as “source” for your project? Run with it! PDFs are more usable than many of us realize, and the PDF provider can offer better quality than they may think. Come to this session to learn about methods of extracting usable text and graphics from what’s usually considered a read-only format. We'll cover how to determine the typefaces used, how to export or extract text, how to isolate bitmap and vector artwork, and even how to determine what tool was used to create the actual source file. PDF may not be the ideal source format, but it’s definitely doable.
